DNA Appliance Therapy
From Google search:
“May 4, 2017 – For patients who don’t like their CPAP machines we have highly effective dental appliances to treat sleep apnea and snoring. … The DNA Appliance® (Daytime Nighttime Appliance) has been highly researched and clinically proven to work naturally to non-surgically remodel the airway.”
Dental Solutions of South Florida uses the DNA appliance to permanently expand dental arches to widen breathing space. Expanding the upper arch opens up space in the nose and sinuses so sinuses can drain, and air can flow more freely. Expanding the lower jaw opens up more space behind the tongue and in the throat for a larger airway to reduce snoring and to correct sleep apnea. Widening dental arches also allows more space for crowded teeth to fall into straighter alignment without using braces. By expanding the arches, the jaws align better which also improves TMJ function. It does this all painlessly and without surgery.
The appliances must be worn in the evenings and at night during sleep. Optimal wear time is between 12 and 14 hours a day. Bone grows very slowly so treatment times range between 9 – 18 months depending on the amount of wear time and the complexity of the case. Most conditions will be cured or dramatically improved.
DNA treatment has proven research and is FDA cleared for correction of sleep apnea.
Physicians should look for a flat upper lip in profile, a narrow V-shaped or omega-shaped upper arche with high narrow palate and/or premolar extractions from orthodontic treatment. These things indicate an underdeveloped maxilla which can be expanded to create a larger airway.
Narrow V-shaped upper arch expanded to Roman arch. This widens the floor of the nose and opens up the sinuses for easier nasal breathing. Also allows the lower jaw to come forward which opens the lower airway.
This is an adult patient who also had TMJ pain which was resolved along with expanding her airway from 7.7 to 24.1 cm2
Young adult after 8 months. Notice flat upper lip in profile. His upper jaw was expanded, and his lower jaw came forward. He no longer has to sleep propped up on pillows and says he dreams now.
Vivos DNA
A Vivos Dentist can help the millions of people, young and old, who suffer from conditions known as maxillary hypoplasia and/or mandibular retrognathia/retrusion, where both the upper and lower jaws are underdeveloped. These conditions often result in a compromised upper airway.
Individuals living with maxillary hypoplasia and/or mandibular retrognathia/retrusion may develop breathing difficulties occurring during sleep, often referred to as sleep-disordered breathing (SDB). These difficulties can range from frequent loud snoring to obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), which causes the individual to regularly stop breathing during sleep as a result of a partial to fully blocked airway.
Vivos Life is devoted to performing clinical research and trials to develop and improve their offerings of therapeutic-grade biomimetic oral appliances for the treatment of midfacial hypoplasia and/or mandibular retrognathia/retrusion.
Warning signs include, but are not limited to:
- Overbite, Underbite or Crooked Teeth
- Mouth Only Breathing
- Obstructed Nasal Passage
- Improper Tongue Positioning / Placement
- Narrow Dental Arches
Treating Midfacial Hypoplasia & Mandibular Retrognathia
The goal of treating midfacial hypoplasia and/or mandibular retrognathia/retrusion with Vivos Life is correcting the maxillo-mandibular skeletal and oral soft tissue structures to eliminate and/or reduce the obstruction of the upper airway.
Treatment outcomes include, but are not limited to:
- Mouth Breathing/Snoring Reduced or Eliminated
- Nasal Obstruction Reduced or Eliminated
- Improved Tongue Positioning
- Increased Upper Airway Volume and Reduction of Nighttime Airway Collapse
- Straighter Teeth
- TMJ Pain and/or Headaches Reduced or eliminated
- Improved Facial Symmetry
The Vivos Therapeutic approach is a safe and non-invasive manner to treat midfacial hypoplasia and/or mandibular retrognathia/retrusion in order to improve the lives of people of all ages.

Dr. David Singh is responsible for much of the basic research behind what we do, Until this research was done, no one believed adult jaws could be increased in size without surgery. This was a complete game changer.
